9000 SERIES - GENERAL TOPIC QUESTIONS
I will
be installing a 9000 series for the first time, what
literature should I read before doing this?
Please
read the “Everything You (Really) Wanted to Know About the
9000 Series” manual, the mixer or matrix mode manual version
3.2, and the application guide before installing a 9000.

What is
the maximum input/output configuration of a 9000 Series
mixer?
(8)
Eight input channels with (8) Eight output channels and one
control module.
»
Are
modules required?
Yes.
Each 9000 series model includes two built-in output
channels, but all of the input connections and additional
output channels require modules which are sold separately.
»
Where do
I find the connection for "Output 1?"
The
connections for output channels 1 and 2 are always provided
on the chassis of the mixer or mixer/amp. On A-9000 series
models, they will be on the far left-hand side of the rear
panel. On the M-9000 mixer, they will be on the far
right-hand side of the rear panel. Although the connectors
of each T-001T module are labeled 1 and 2, the T-001 module
will always be feeding channels 3 and 4 (if in slot 5), 5
and 6 (if in slot 6) or 7 and 8 (if in slot 7).

Are
there two C-IN1 connections?
Not
quite! The control connection for C-IN1 is located on the
chassis of the mixer or mixer/amp, directly below the Remote
Volume connection. Although the connectors of the C-001T
card are labeled 1 to 8, they actually represent C-IN5
through C-IN12 and C-OUT5 through C-OUT12.

When
using the ZP-001T zone paging module, how do I determine
when to use Paging Port Mode or Ring Signal Mode?
The
ZP-001T can not be used with “Pulse Dialing” type PBX.
Paging
Port Mode:
To be
used when the PBX system provides an audio line level paging
port also passing the DTMF touch tone signals.
The PBX
system is also required to provide no-voltage make contact
(contact closure) during paging calls.
Ring
Signal Mode:
Used
when the PBX system provides an “Analog Extension Port”
consisting of an analog two-wire extension line with loop
start. DTMF signaling is required with 120 IPM reorder tone
and 24VDC or more loop voltage. Loop voltage supply shall
not be cut off from the beginning of a call to the reorder
tone out. The state of CPC (Calling Party Controlled) break
or “Open Loop Disconnect” shall be reset at the PBX.

Can you
use a 900 Series module in a 9000?
Yes, but
you lose all the input DSP functionality (VOX which is
necessary for paging sources, Sensitivity, EQ, Compressor
and Signal Metering). As a result, 900 Series modules are
not generally recommended for use with the 9000 Series.

When I
upload my parameter file from the PC to the 9000, I find
that when checking the settings from the front panel, some
of the settings I tried to upload do not make it over to the
unit itself.
When
this occurs, first verify that the module configuration in
the 9000 chassis matches the module configuration in the
software settings.
If the
module configuration is correct then reset the 9000 to
factory defaults and try again. To reset to factory default:
First, disconnect the AC Mains power cord from the back of
the 9000 unit. Second, slide the matrix-mixer switch at the
back of the unit by the power plug to the opposite position.
Third, plug the AC Mains power cord back in. The front panel
display should read “Erase Mixer Memo?” or “Erase Matrix
Memo?” Press the enter key and the 9000 should automatically
power OFF after approximately 5 seconds. At this point, the
settings in either mixer or matrix mode are set to default
factory settings. To put the 9000 back to the previous mode,
repeat the above process.

Can
multiple ZM-9001 or ZM-9002 controllers be assigned to the
same functions?
The
buttons of the ZM-9001 and ZM-9002 can be assigned to their
functions regardless of whether another controller is
already assigned to the same functions. However, the knobs
of two ZM-9002 controllers cannot be assigned to control the
same input or output channel.
»
Can
multiple ZM-9003 or custom dry-contact controllers be
assigned to the same functions?
Controllers based upon a “momentary” dry contact input
connection, such as the volume up/down function of the
ZM-9003 can be wired in parallel to the same “Control In”
connections. If separate connections are used, they can
still be assigned the same functions, except for triggering
events in Matrix mode.
If the
switches are “latching” type, such as the four interlock
selectors of the ZM-9003, then separate contact-in terminals
must be used and they should not be assigned to the same
function.
